Leah Morton, MD

The life trajectory of Leah Morton, MD, has progressed from peace, social justice, and environmental activism to family and functional medicine to farming. Now, synthesizing all three, she has moved her medical practice of 40 years from Santa Fe, NM, to her farm abutting the Santa Fe National Forest.

Her new activism is regenerative farming. This model promises to heal the planet through CO2 sequestration, and it does this utilizing Mother Nature’s elegant, simple, symbiotic technologies—culturing plants and microbes. This parallels the central healing tenet of functional medicine: healing the gut by balancing the microbiome.
